We have worked hard to keep this program afloat as the joy on the faces of those earning their jackets and patches is a highlight of the Gala every year. Just like any business or family, sometimes budgets are tight and sometimes we can make it rain money (not actually, but one can dream). With two years of not hosting the region 3 dressage championships, we have had to tighten the purse strings. A strict budget may not be fun, but it does ensure the longevity of the club and the many ways we try to enrich our Georgia horse community. We have long subsidized the recognized letterman program, but this year we can no longer absorb that cost. You will see a big jump in the price of the jackets, please know it is still not a profitable venture. This is a breakeven price. Turns out traditional letterman jackets are spendy. It is an absolute privilege for us to run this program and see our young equestrian athletes get recognized, and we hope to enjoy this program for years to come. We encourage our letterman athletes to get creative and earn some dollars to put towards their new jackets - bake sale, tack cleaning, mane pulling, arena mirror cleaning, etc. We will be happy to share their ventures to help spread the word.

Since GDCTA is not hosting the money earning region 3 championship show either in 2023 or 2024 (and it now looks like GA has been cut out of 2025), we have had to make some decisions regarding our schedules and programs to save money for at least the next two years. Details to be shared soon!

GDCTA member Sandra Carnet will be riding at the Oxer Farm (Oxerfarm.com) Schooling Show on August 5 with judge Dana Ferguson (L) for TDF Century Club membership. Isn’t that inspiring?! GDCTA is excited to see Sandra and Tamara’s entry to the Club. We invite members to attend and cheer them on! Or leave a message in the comments and we’ll share that with Sandra. If you are there, share photos with us~

    The Dressage Foundation Century Club

The Century Club recognizes dressage riders and horses whose combined ages total 100 years or more. Horse and rider perform a test of any level at a show (schooling or recognized) or event and are scored by a dressage judge or professional. The Dressage Foundation (TDF) will send a beautiful black and gold ribbon to be presented to the team at the show. Following the ride, TDF sends a Century Club plaque to the new team. TDF's Century Club is sponsored by Platinum Performance.

The driving force behind horse shows is our amazing volunteers! GDCTA’s Liz Faso Memorial Volunteer of the Year Program sponsored by Wilsun Custom Horse Products exists to increase the ease of participation, provide incentives, and recognize the tireless efforts of volunteers.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Volunteer Coordinator to help us recruit and manage the many volunteers needed for the GAIG/USDF Region 3 Championships October 7-9, 2022, being held at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers, Georgia.

We need you NOW to recruit, manage, and maintain the necessary tracking for the volunteer incentive program.

    • You will attend the event to manage the volunteers you have recruited.
    • You will record all volunteer hours for the GDCTA’s Liz Faso Memorial Volunteer of the Year Program sponsored by Wilsun Custom Horse Products.

This position involves a great deal of contact with our members; therefore, our Volunteer Coordinator must have excellent interpersonal communication skills. The Volunteer Coordinator may use social media, post volunteer opportunities online and/or call members who have expressed interest in volunteering.

If you thrive interacting with people, have excellent communication skills, are organized, and have a passion for creating meaningful relationships, we want to meet you. This is a one-time only paid position. GDCTA is offering $500 for this 3-day event and will provide accommodations. Contact Caren Caverly at ccaverly@comcast.net / 770-413-4025 as soon as possible.
