Awards Program


The annual year-end GDCTA Awards recognize the hard work and dedication of our members. Each awards year runs from October 1st through September 30th. 


1) All eligible scores received at any USEF/USDF recognized show or USEA Horse Trial in the USA are eligible for inclusion in our Recognized Awards Program.

2) All eligible scores received at any GDCTA-recognized schooling show are eligible for inclusion in our Schooling Show Awards Program.

3) You must be a GDCTA member before any scores can count!

4) Members must opt-in to the awards program when they join or email Caren Caverly before scores are earned, participation is not automatic.

Scores for those signed up for the awards program will be obtained from USDF or USEA and from the schooling show organizers.

Year-end Award Winners will received official notification that they have won an award via mail in December.

Please note that Tadpole is no longer a recognized division for Eventing/CT awards. 


If you are participating in the Awards Program(s), check your Standings (numbers of scores we've received) throughout the year. Schooling Show scores will be added as we receive them. USEF/USDF/USEA scores can be found on those websites until we get them in October. Look for announcements letting you know when you should check them. 


RIDER STANDINGS:


Qualified Riders for Recognized awards will not be posted on the website until after the end of the competition year, which is September 30. The full list of qualified riders will be posted around mid-October, once all of the final scores have been received from the USDF and USEA. You have until November 30th to let the Awards Program Chair know if there are any issues.

 

In the meantime, competitors can check their scores online by using the

(dressage) USDF scores website https://www.usdf.org/usdfscores/ 

and

(eventing) USEA results database http://useventing.com/competitions/profile-user-search.

Special Awards

To qualify for awards, you must be a GDCTA member at the time of earning the scores and you must have checked the correct Awards Program participation on your membership application.


Awarded at the Awards Gala:

  • Pam Kimble Memorial Trophy - Awarded to the highest average score for a Jr/YR from all USDF shows. 
  • 12 and Under Excellence Award - a High Score Excellence Award for 12 and under riders. This award recognizes both Eventing and Dressage riders and in both Schooling and Recognized awards programs.
  • Collegiate Best Score Award Under this program, year-end awards are presented to the best scoring collegiate rider in dressage and combined training at GDCTA-recognized schooling shows. To be eligible, you must be a GDCTA members who is a full- or part-time college student at a two- or four-year accredited institution at the time of the competition in which the score is earned. For scores from competitions taking place during the summer months to count, riders must have been an enrolled college student in the preceding spring semester or be an enrolled college student in the immediately following fall semester. If you have already joined GDCTA and you â€‹did not check the "collegiate" box, email Collegiate Chair Amanda Garner at GDCTAcollegiateprogram@gmail.com  and ask to be enrolled in the program. 
  • CA Solant Perpetual Trophy - Awarded to the highest Average Score for an Adult Amateur for the 5 GDCTA-hosted dressage shows - May: Greater Atlanta Dressage Southern I & II (2 shows);  September: Labor Day Classic I & II (2 shows); October: Atlanta National Fall Dressage (1 show)
  • The GDCTA Ico Ila Pony Awards sponsored by Janie Pride - Champion will be awarded to High Score (see the Rules for details on how the score is tabulated) ponies in keeping with the guidance from USDF. You must let Janie Pride know if you are competing for these Awards. You do need a pony card. GO PONIES!
  • Donald & Elizabeth Faso Perpetual Trophy sponsored by Lisa Seger Insurance - The Donald & Elizabeth Faso Perpetual Trophy is awarded for distinguished service to Georgia Dressage & Combined Training Association and service to equestrian sport. Nominations along with a brief reason why the GDCTA member nominee is deserving of the award should be emailed to admin@gdcta.org by November 30th. After the cutoff date for nominations closes, the nominees will be reviewed by John and Lisa Seger, and a board member to determine who will be presented with the award at the Awards Gala.
  • Liz Faso Memorial Volunteer of the Year sponsored by Wilsun Custom Horse Products The volunteer hours accumulate from January 1 through December 31 and will be awarded to the persons with the most hours volunteered at GDCTA events and eligible schooling shows (check the events calendar to find the events that will work for you!) Board members, paid positions and Chairs are not eligible.

       1) $1000.00 for the most hours volunteered 

       2) $750.00 for the 2nd highest number of hours

       3) $500.00 for the 3rd highest number of hours
       4) $250.00 raffle consisting of every volunteer with 24 hrs volunteering

    Awarded at Horse Shows:

    • Vintage Adult High Point Award (50+) Sponsored by The Harbin Agency High Point ribbon and award each show to one Adult Amateur rider 50 or over as of the show date and one Open rider 50 or over as of the show date. Materiale, Opportunity, MFS, and DSE classes not eligible. The awards will be presented at: Greater Atlanta Dressage Southern I & II (2 shows); Labor Day Classic I & II (2 shows)
    • Lisa Seger Insurance Adult Amateur Medal Finals - All Lisa Seger Insurance Medal Award winners from the current show season are eligible to show in the GDCTA Summer Finals Schooling Show championship class in August at Wills Park Equestrian Center in Alpharetta. Champion and Reserve Champion will be awarded to the Adult Amateur riders with the highest and second highest scores in the Lisa Seger Insurance Adult Amateur Medal championship class (Sunday's Training Level, Test 3). The LSI AA Medal Champion will receive a Trophy, Saddle Pad, and a Ribbon. The LSI AA Medal Reserve Champion will receive a Trophy and a Ribbon. 

    • Dressage Seat Equitation Schooling Show Medal Finals - GDCTA Youth Program's Dressage Seat Medal Finals is held annually at the GDCTA Summer Finals Schooling Show in August at Wills Park Equestrian Center in Alpharetta. This is a Dressage Seat Equitation Challenge for our Schooling Show participants modeled after the USDF Regional Semi-Finals and Finals Event. These classes are run as a group Dressage Seat Equitation Class, broken into two age divisions, ages 13 & under and 14-18. Classes consist of walk, trot, and canter with additional test movements asked individually. HOW TO QUALIFY: Earn 2 Qualifying Scores (minimum score 70%) in Dressage Seat Medal Classes at GDCTA-recognized schooling shows before the GDCTA Summer Finals Schooling Show or Qualify with 2 scores of 64% or higher in Intro C, 63% or higher in Training Level, 62% or higher in First Level, 61% or higher in Second level at GDCTA-recognized schooling shows.


      AWARDS GALA - AN ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF THE YEAR'S AWARD WINNERS AND GDCTA'S LARGEST FUNDRAISING EVENT - AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL TO MIX, MINGLE, SPARKLE, AND SHINE!

      GDCTA holds an annual gala honoring GDCTA dressage and combined training competition winners. It begins with a cash bar reception, followed by dinner and an awards ceremony.

      Additionally, attendees have the opportunity to take a chance in the Barn Basket Raffle and to bid on fabulous items in a silent auction. The annual Awards Gala is GDCTA’s major fundraising event with proceeds earmarked for clinics, shows, forums, and more. The Awards Gala is a great way for all members to show their support for the dressage and eventing community in Georgia.

      Gala Donation Options:

      Silent Auction:

      Contributions may be product or service donations.

      Barn Basket Raffle:

      Themed baskets are donated and then raffled raffle the night of the gala. Baskets will be judged on Originality and Popularity.  Winners will each receive a $100 gift certificate to Atlanta Saddlery. 

      Party Favors:

      We often provide small party favors at each seat. We will have approximately 450 guests, however, we only ask for as many sample-sized products as you wish to send. We will mix and match at the tables.

      Door Prizes:

      We put together 15 door prize buckets filled with product. We make each one individually depending on which products are donated. We would also accept pre-made gift buckets.
